Kingston doesn’t need much of an excuse to turn up—but when Cinco de Mayo rolls around, we add a little extra spice to the mix. What started as a Mexican celebration has morphed into a full-blown excuse for tacos, tequila, and booming nightlife.
From taco deals to bars going all out with margarita flights and themed decor, the city brings the fiesta vibes—Jamaican style.
But—let’s be real—not everyone gets into these events from the horrendous parking situations to the crowds it may not be for everyone . Whether you’re just not that into crowds or whatever there’s zero reason you can’t party like Selena at home.
And nothing says “Jamaican Cinco” quite like this spicy-sweet tropical remix:

🍍🔥 Scotch Bonnet Hot Honey Pineapple Margarita (Serves 2)
Ingredients:
4 oz Espolòn Tequila Blanco
1.5 oz Cointreau
3 oz pineapple juice (fresh or Dole canned works fine)
1 oz lime juice (about 1 lime)
1.5 tbsp hot honey (see hack below)
1 tiny slice of scotch bonnet (seeds removed, unless you're brave)
Ice
Scotch Bonnet slices for garnish
DIY Hot Honey Hack:Mix 2 tbsp honey + slices of a scotch bonnet pepper let that sit for at least an hour and you got yourself scotch bonnet hot honey.
Instructions:
In a cocktail shaker or the glass (if you do this split the ingredients in half), combine tequila, Cointreau, pineapple juice, lime juice and the scotch bonnet hot honey
Add ice and shake/ stir well
Garnish, sip, and feel the fiesta.
💃 Bonus Tips for At-Home Cinco Shenanigans:
Taco Night: Make jerk chicken tacos or order in
Playlist: Mix in some big bad Soca and Reggaeton for proper energy.
Vibes: gather your favorite people or person and the tequila for fun games and shots!

So whether you're turning up at Chilitos or chilling in your shorts on the verandah—Cinco de Mayo in Kingston is all about good vibes, bold flavours, and a little heat.
¡Diviértete y bebe con responsabilidad!
