Never Have I Ever... Been to Dim Sum

So my newest friend invited me out for brunch and once food was involved I was like “Alright! Let’s go!” Then she said she wanted to go to Dim Sum and I was like “HUH?!” I quickly took my uncultured ass to Google and she sent me a Tik Tok video to enlighten my darkness. At first, I thought why would I wanna go to a restaurant to eat miniature food? But despite my apprehension mi put on clothes and gwaan.
We were the first two there but trust me it took no time for all of the Asian Jamaican Community to pack up the picturesque Ming Cuisine.

Inside the restaurant was like being in a fancy K-Drama scene, with traditional Asian paintings of landscapes and flora and oriental ceiling lamps that provided dim lighting to set the ambiance for a relaxing Sunday morning.
No Asian restaurant is complete without a dragon or two in some form. They had a charming set up in the corner of the room that really emulated an authentic Asian culture.
Seated and started off with some Chinese tea while we marked our orders on a cute worksheet-like menu with a pencil I stole afterward for memories. Don’t get the Chinese tea unless you know what Chinese tea taste like, to me is perfume but it was allegedly good for preventing cancer so I gulped it down. Weird, I know but for real it tastes like perfume, don’t pretend as if you’ve never sprayed perfume in your mouth by accident this is a no-shame zone.
A little while after we submitted our worksheet the food came and the turn around time was quite pleasing because I was excited to see what we got. That excitement quickly turned into confusion to try and match the names to the dishes.
Trust me some things looked very different to say it nicely! But hey, that's what we're here for to experience different cultural cuisine.

The steamed rice dishes really “lik wi fi six” (knocked our boots off) because this was not what we were expecting. When you hear steamed rice everybody here can steam rice so you have a specific image in your head but this looked like they reduced the rice to liquid and created some sort of jello-like paste. I knew it wouldn’t taste good but I still tried it and the consistency was not for me, even the shrimp in the dish wasn't heavily seasoned like we were accustomed to.
Now that we got that out the way let’s talk about the other dishes. Everything else was so good that 10/10 would recommend it. The spring rolls are your average spring rolls but yummy. The steamed shrimp dumplings were delicious with that spicy soy sauce and the shrimps in there were well seasoned. The spare ribs we laughed that to scorn but my friend said it tasted good. The egg tarts were something new to me but wasn't sweet enough to fill my desert cravings.
Very surprised the tiny food stopped a gap, my belly was content with the portion size. Overall it was a great new experience that I would do again.
FINAL SCORE (1 being bad and 10 being great):
