Summer has officially started and to kick it off I did something I’ve been wanting to do for a while—camping! And not just any camping—belly-filled, laughter-soaked, fire-crackling camping at Fern Forest Eco Village in St. Ann, Jamaica.
If you’ve been craving a nature escape with good vibes and even better food, let me put you on to something you can do this summer for a foodie.

The Vibe: Nature, Games, and My Dog
First off—Fern Forest is a dream. Think lush trees, fresh air, cozy tents, and the soft hum of nature. The best part? They're pet-friendly, so I brought my dog along, and he loved every second of it. Being off leash in the open and snoozes under the trees and a whole lot of exploration was new to him from the usual city life.

The space was perfect for unplugging and reconnecting—with the group, with the outdoors, and with my appetite.
The Food: A Fire-Pit Feast
Now let’s get into what you really came here for—the food.
We did it proper:
Jerk chicken sizzling over the coal on the grill, smoky, juicy, and just spicy enough.
Escovitch fish that we brought already fried and ready to devour—because a camping trip without escovitch is a missed opportunity.
Snacks on snacks—banana chips, sweet treats, and of course, drinks to keep the belly and vibes flowing.
And yes, we made s’mores. Sticky marshmallows, melty chocolate, and the crispness of a fire-toasted biscuit—it was messy, sweet, and worth every gooey bite.

The Fun: Shots, Games, and Belly Laughs
We didn’t just eat (though we did eat a lot). We played games, took shots, and let loose under the stars. You haven’t lived until you’ve taken a shot of tequila in the forest while arguing over who’s cheating in Uno.
The mix of good company, bellyful bites, and belly-laugh moments made it more than just a weekend trip—it was a reset.
💡 Belly Tips for Your Own Fern Forest Camping Trip:
Pre-season and prep your meals. Less work on-site = more time to relax.
Numbers don't matter- any number of friends make a group trip, adulting is hard make the most with who can show up
Bring your dog! It’s a whole different joy seeing them explore nature.
Bring games and a speaker. Vibes are essential.
Do nothing sometimes. Lie in a hammock, sip something nice, and just be.
Final Bite:
Camping at Fern Forest was everything I needed—peaceful, playful, and packed with flavor. Whether you’re into food, fun, or just looking to do something different this summer, let your belly lead the way.

So, book the tent, marinate the chicken, and don’t forget the chocolate and marshmallows. Because out in the forest, there’s no better way to connect than over fire-cooked food and a shot glass raised to the sky.
Until the next belly adventure, lata.
This was a vibe for sure... 10/10 would recommend!
